Layette for a puppy
Prior to appearing
a new familiar, it is worth having the following things:
collar -a light
webbing or leather collar with a sewn soft leather will be the
most comfortable for a puppy. For sure it shouldn't be any metal
collar because it is heavy and very often doesn't have any possibility
of regulation.
leash -the first leash should be made from a line or
a tape with a possibility of an adjustment of 3 length dimensions.
Contrary to leather leashes it doesn't provoke a puppy to its
biting either by a smell or a taste. I don't recommend any automatic
leashes.
hotbed - it is not recommend to buy any expensive bedding
for a dog either in the form of a dinghy or wicker baskets.
Puppies like biting their bedding very much and it is a pity
spending money on something what will be eaten during a few
weeks. The best should be a thick blanket or an old mattress
wrapped with this blanket. It is essential the bedding should
be an asylum for a puppy, you can't punish your dog on it. Moreover,
it should be located in such place which let a dog observe what
is going on at home.
bowls - at least two, one for water, second one for food.
Generally speaking, the best bowls there are these steely ones,
because, skipping the fact they are very expensive, they are
aesthetic and easy in washing and disinfecting, they are also
not able to be destroyed. It is important a bowl should be a
little too big rather than too small - a rule is an eating portion
takes not more than a half of the bowl.
a brush, a comb - a puppy should be combed as often
as possible to dispose puppy' s fur. The best to do it there
are brushes made from natural bristle and a comb with widely
set and rotated needles.
a collar against ticks - particularly important is to
purchase a puppy in a spring or summer period. A veterinarian
should recommend us suitable collar or the other device against
ticks.
shampoo for puppies - there is a huge choice of different
kinds of shampoo on the market. It should be noticed not to
buy a shampoo for grownup dogs.
rewards -you should get to know a liking of your dog.
A choice of candies is enormous, some of puppies like sophisticated
cakes with vitamins, the other ones usual Froliki. It is important
to have sweets always in a range of a hand, to be able to award
our dog for right behavior in a suitable moment.
toys - the choice of puppies' toys is also enormous.
It is recommend to buy all sorts of ropes with knots, leather
rags and balls on the line.
food -at first the best food for a dog there is this
one a puppy was given from a grower, after some times we can
change it, but simultaneously we have to remember that each
change can result in transitional gastric problems.
vitamin devices - a good food for puppies has a complete
package of elements on its stock needed for a correct development.
Additional vitamin devices should be given only after a consultancy
with a vet. As far as the best puppies' food is concerned (ex.
Eukanuba, Hills, Purina, Royal Canin, Bosh), calcium shouldn't
be given to small hovawart (a puppy needs it only during the
period of teeth exchanging), Vitamin C and cod-liver oil in
capsules can be given (it increase resistance and improve a
fur).
paper towels, newspapers - in particular, paper towels
are needed to maintain cleanness at home. Personally, I don't
recommend any devices against biting objects, our bitch was
licking this device from furniture. During a teaching D'Arsy
how not to destroy any objects we used a method recommended
in a book „Perfect puppy" relies on „punishing" with a water
gun. In the moment when our bitch started to brawl, we made
it wet with the water from this gun in such way it didn't know
just we had punished it. In this situation puppy knows it was
punished for adverse behavior, but doesn't associate it with
us so eliminate such behavior. When we shouted at it during
making a mess, we would eliminate bad behavior but only in our
presence.

ZOFIA
MRZEWIŃSKA "With a key in relation to a dog"
It is a very curiously written book consisted of two parts: the
first one describes how to deal with a dog in the usual life and
second one - shows a diary of a puppy' s period of a bitch Raszka.
Additionally there is a CD record attached to this book where
you can hear how Raszka deals with its exercises.
JAN FENNEL "The Dog Listener"
The book that teach how to understand dogs' language, how to do
your best to set your relations with a dog and how to make a conversation
with a dog. Jan Fennell having based on numerate examples shows
how she was learning to enter the contacts with dogs of her own
and convince that everybody is able to manage it. In the second
book "Forgotten dogs' language in practice" the author advises
how to change the theory into practice and how to use his method
in everyday life.
JOHN FISHER "Think Dog! An Owner's Guide to Canine Psychology"
Author describes consecutively „What a dog is", „Positive approach
problems" in very accessible way and gives very precise advice
how to solve dogs' problems. Author shows typical failures connected
with bringing up which are used commonly by dogs' owners and writes
how to avoid them.
GWEN BAILEY "Perfect puppy"
A book about how to deal with a new familiar, you can find very
concrete tips regarding puppy raising up.
BARBARA WALDOCH "Positive dogs training"
"A method of training with KLIKER isn't new and had been using
on the world from ages. It turned out extremely useful especially
in a case of animals that are not able to cooperate through using
an enforcement, ex. dolphins. Only in the recent years a KLIKEROWA
method gained popularity among people engaged in dog's training.
The essence of the method is an awarding of the dog for our desirable
pattern of behavior that because of the award will be repeated.
A guide uses the language perfectly understood by the animal so
a dog becomes guide's willing partner and doesn't need to use
a physical force to obtain excellent results in training. KLIKER
provides unusual precision what enables the work on a highest
level. For this method there are no hard congeners. The race of
our pupil doesn't matter as well. Each dog can be taught of everything,
if only it is able to do it psychically and mentally" (fragment
of the book).
When
to the vet?
From
making the world a puppy is under a protection of a vet. During
a stay with a breeder, it is disposed of all bugs and submits
first inoculation (against nasal and PARWOWIROZA). During purchasing
a puppy, the owner is given puppy's health book. From this moment
he has an obligation to take care of regular inoculation of a
puppy. Inoculation calendar should be set with a vet. Simultaneously
it should be remembered that initially each inoculation ought
to be preceded by disposal of bugs. An example of the inoculation
calendar can look like the following one: a puppy in a breeder
place after becoming 6 weeks of its life is given the first inoculation,
it is Nobivac Puppy DP, which for a short time but effectively
protects against nasal and PARWOWIROZA. After 2 - 3 weeks we can't
neglect inoculation against nasal, PARWOWIROZA, leptospirosis,
KORONAWIROZA, parainfuenza, septic hepatitis and after next 2
- 3 weeks this inoculation should be repeated. Inoculation against
rabies regards all dogs above the fourth month of their life.
